About the Artist
Master of Fine Arts
Bio
He has been called one of Atlanta 's best kept secrets, but to the art world, he is called a one man phenomenon. Chester Hopper, Jr., is a master of fine arts. An artists whose works spans beyond the boundaries imposed by the mind.
Growing up in Milwaukee WI, Hopper received a gift at age 11 that would begin his life long affair with art and creation. A box of art supplies given by his father for use in his "spare time" would soon become his obsession and although his love affair with creating art would propel him in various directions throughout life, it was his passion with creating meaningful, unaltered works of art that would push Hopper into entrepreneurship. In the 1980s Hopper introduced Hopper's Unique Inc., a project that allowed him to design and market ethnic greeting cards, Children reading and coloring books and other products while simultaneously maintain a design studio.
With a passion for art only rivaled by artists of the 1700 and 1800s, Chester Hopper sought to expand his vision through future generations. He became an instructor who would create amazing works for various entities in Milwaukee including The Cultural Arts for the Silver Spring Neighborhood Center and The Arts for Turning Point Alternative School. Chester's experience allowed him to work programs and workshops for the Very Special Arts, Milwaukee Alternative Schools, Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Public Library and the Milwaukee Art Museum. Hopper continued to translated his skills as director, instructor and entrepreneur as long as he could but just as the seasons change, artists must have inspiration, a change.
Looking for that change brought Hopper to Atlanta in the early 1990s. This move would allow him to engage daily with his philosophy of showing beauty in a world that sometimes forgets. Just a few months after arriving in Atlanta, the" international city of the south" fell in love with his creations and commissioned him for several projects including work for the Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs, Hands on Atlanta, Atlanta Public Schools, Mable House Cultural Arts Center, Ernst & Young Llp, Lafaploosa and The Christopher Wallace Foundation, to name a few.
Currently, the Owner of One Mind Studio , in Atlanta , GA, Hopper continues to create on a daily basis. When asked what he considers his greatest work, Hopper says, "The work speaks for its self. I'm thankful for the ability to create, without art; this world may never envision the beauty that we all possess." I have yet to see my greatest work, nor can I determine.
